A hydrocarbon leak occurred on 11 June from pipework caused by corrosion in a trunnion pipe support, according to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
“You have failed to ensure that trunnion pipe supports exposed to conditions causing deterioration which are liable to result in dangerous situations are inspected at suitable intervals, using appropriate techniques,” HSE said in the Prohibition Notice.
A prohibition notice tells the dutyholder to halt work immediately and is the most serious form of enforcement action open to HSE behind prosecution.
Eni was not immediately available for comment. Other details are not yet available and is unclear if production was or remains shut in.
