The Milan-headquartered oil major said that it and partners Vitol of Switzerland and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) had signed an agreement with Ghanaian authorities on proceeding with the project.
Eni chief executive Claudio Descalzi said the operator had brought the project to sanction less than two years after completing its exploration of the play.
The field is expected to produce its first oil in 2017 and first gas in 2018, reaching peak production of 80,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2019.
