The Italian major has signed up for five years with the 1979-built Hercules 260 starting in April, Houston-based Hercules said on Thursday.
The Marathon LeTourneau-design, 150-44C-class unit will earn a minimum dayrate of $75,000 if the price of Brent remains at $86 per barrel or below.
Above this the rig will earn a higher dayrate, up to a maximum of $125,000 should the price of Brent reach $125 a barrel.
