The layoffs, announced Tuesday, deepen cuts already made to the onshore segment earlier this year.

Ensco did not tell how many employees were laid off, but said that the reductions add up to $30 million in additional savings. Combined with the previous cuts, Ensco anticipates a savings of $57 million annually from this year's workforce reductions.

In addition to layoffs, the company has also cut its budget by slashing labour costs by 15%.
