The Milan-headquartered oil major said that it requested the extension on the licence - which was due to expire in November 2014 - in order to complete its requirements of drilling three wells and acquiring 1000 square kilometres of 3D seismic.
“The extension of the exploration period of Block 15/06, which includes the Reco-Reco discovery, recognizes Eni’s ability to successfully fulfil the role of operator, one which requires both technological innovation and a high level of operational efficiency,” commented Eni chief executive Claudio Descalzi.
