ExxonMobil said on Friday that it had started operations with water-alternating-gas injection from the recently installed Tapis R central processing platform into targeted wells on the existing Tapis A platform.
The process sees water injection and gas injection carried out alternatively for periods of time to provide better sweeping efficiency of the reservoir.
Tapis is Malaysia's first large scale EOR project, according to ExxonMobil, and will utilise immiscible water-alternating-gas process to recover remaining oil reserves from the offshore field.
