The US Department of Justice told Sandridge “it is no longer a subject or target of the previously reported grand jury investigation” which centered on the company’s leasing programmes before 2012.
It had been widely speculated that Sandridge and its former chief executive Tom Ward had been the unnamed counter-parties mentioned in an indictment charging former Chesapeake Energy chief executive Aubrey McClendon with one count of anti- trust violations.
