The semi-submersible unit will be deployed at the North Sea field to accommodate personnel for commissioning work ahead of start-up scheduled in the fourth quarter.
The consent issued by the Petroleum Safety Authority applies until 1 February 2017 though can be extended if start-up is delayed.
The topsides of the Ivar Aasen platform were installed on the jacket at the field last month.
