A federal judge in Brasilia said Friday that a May indictment showed enough proof to begin a trial of Lula and six other suspects, according to reports in the Guardian and the Wall Street Journal.
Lula is accused of obstructing justice by trying to silence a former Petrobras director, while implying the company's former chief executive Jose Sergio Gabrielli had knowledge of kickback payments on drillship contracts.
