The provincial government said late on Wednesday it is planning a “phased voluntary re-entry starting on 1 June, with the return completed by 15 June”.
The decision, announced at a town hall meeting by Premier Rachel Notley, is based on “expected conditions such as no threat from fires and improved air quality”.
Notley said that, as rain and cooler weather is forecast in the coming days, the local government expects that the risks of wildfires will diminish.
