The provincial government said that some residents will be able to return on Wednesday, if they chose to do so, however, three neighbourhoods remain off-limits.
Authorities will continue to assess conditions daily, and the plans could change if conditions worsen, Premier Rachel Notley said.
It is expected that as many as 15,000 residents will return, according to local reports, as authorities have been able to restore critical services such as police and healthcare in the area.
