Well partner AWE revealed drilling had started on the QK12-3-1D exploration well in Block 09/05 which will test the oil potential of a three-way dip closed structure matured by 3D seismic.
The well has two primary stacked objectives, targeting Miocene age Guantao reservoirs and Pliocene age Minghuazhen reservoirs, along with a secondary objective in the Oligocene age Dongying reservoir.
QK12-3-1D is expected to take about 26 days to drill to a total depth of 3600 metres and complete.
