Local media reported workers were told to leave the site overnight after a gas leak was detected in a pipe at the plant’s acid removal unit.
A Chevron spokesperson confirmed “a minor gas leak” had been detected at the LNG plant, which is situated on Barrow Island.
“Workers in the area were evacuated and there were no injuries,” he said.
“As part of standard operating procedure, Chevron’s incident management procedures were activated and we have notified the relevant authorities.”
