The Russian gas monopoly paid 981.7 million roubles ($33.7 million) for the licence, which lies to the west of Shtokman and includes part of the field’s resources, in the award by the country’s minerals development agency Rosnedra, RIA Novosti, cited by the Barents Observer, reported on Wednesday.
Gazprom, which already controls the main Shtokman field licence through its subsidiary Gazprom Dobycha Shelf, leads a tripartite development consortium that also includes partners Statoil of Norway and France’s Total.
