The state-run company reported a net loss in the three-month period to September of 2 billion roubles ($26 million) compared to a profit of 105.7 billion roubles in the same period of 2014.
Revenues for the third quarter rose to 1290 billion roubles from 1130 billion roubles year-on-year.
Gazprom was hit with a foreign-exchange loss of 400 billion roubles, which was partially offset by higher roubles prices for gas sales to Europe, the company said.
