The Russian gas monopoly posted a net profit of 373.34 billion roubles ($5.79 billion) for the three months to the end of March against 389.62 billion roubles a year earlier.
Revenues were up from 1.65 trillion roubles to 1.74 trillion roubles, but operating expenses rose from 1.17 trillion roubles to 1.45 trillion roubles.
Net sales of gas were up by 71.25 billion roubles, or 7%, year-on-year, with sales to Europe and other international markets – other that the Former Soviet Union (FSU) – up a huge 22% to 663.18
