The majority of positions to be cut are at a power transmission plant in Lufkin, about 120 miles northeast of Houston. The company is laying off 213 of 311 employees there, according to a regulatory filing.
The company is also cutting 105 positions at a manufacturing facility and 44 positions at a gear repair plant, both in Lufkin.
The layoffs began on 26 May and will continue until 5 August, according to letters from GE to the Texas Workforce Commission.
