The Association of German Crude Oil and Natural Gas Producers (WEG) said that 20,000 jobs are being put at risk by the ongoing legislative uncertainty regarding fracking in Germany.

Wintershall’s head of activities in Germany Andreas Sheck said that conventional tight gas production was being “blocked” by the moratorium on hydraulic fracturing for shale.

“For more than three years now, the ongoing discussion on shale gas has prevented projects from being approved that require the use of fracking even for conventional gas production,” Sheck said.
