US supermajor Chevron is close to restarting operations at its US$54 billion Gorgon liquefied natural gas project in Australia, having finished repairing the fault on the initial train’s propane refrigerant circuit.

“Repairs on the Train 1 propane refrigerant circuit are complete… restart is under way,” a Chevron spokesperson told Upstream.

Sources claimed that it might have cost Chevron and its partners between US$50 million and US$100 million to fix the issues.
