Former Woodside Petroleum executive Gray has held the seat of Brand in Western Australia since 2007 but said he was stepping aside at the next election to “support renewal” in Australia's Labor Party.
"The next election campaign will be tough for Labor and it needs the next generation coming through," the 57-year old told the ABC on Wednesday.
"It doesn't need me staying there because I can stay there.
