US junior Halcon Resources is adding rigs to its properties in North Dakota and Texas in the coming year as part of a planned $200 million capital spending budget for 2017.
Currently, Houston-based Halcon has just a single rig running in the Bakken tight-oil play on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota.
The company now plans to add a second rig to the Bakken in the second quarter that will first drill on acreage Halcon holds in Williams County, North Dakota, and then move to its operations on Fort Berthold later in 2017.
