"The sale is expected to close imminently, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions," Hercules said in a brief statement.
The rig was sold through subsidiary Hercules International Drilling. It was built in 1979 and is rated to drill in 250 feet of water to a depth of 20,000 feet.
Hercules 267 had been idle in West Africa since April 2015.
