Spudding of the Sea Lion-1 well in Block Vic/P57 is scheduled for mid August once Origin Energy has released the jack-up West Telesto from the nearby Yolla gas field, said co-venturer 3D Oil.
In the event of an oil discovery, Sea Lion has been assessed to contain 11 million barrels of oil on a P50 prospective resource basis.
3D Oil managing director Noel Newell said: “It has been a long time coming and it is truly exciting to now be on the cusp of drilling Sea Lion-1.
