Australia-listed residual rights owner Octanex made the announcement on Thursday, adding that the wildcat well was now being plugged and abandoned.
Shell started drilling the Palta-1 deep-water gas exploration well in permit WA-384-P in October last year but progress was delayed by bad weather and issues with the rig’s blowout preventer. Drilling operations resumed in April and total depth was reached in July.
