The company posted a loss of A$54.9 million (US$39.1 million) for the recent financial year, falling from a profit of A$249.1 million a year earlier.

Dragging WorleyParsons into the red was a A$198.6 million impairment charge which it warned investors of earlier this month after assessing the asset carrying values across all of its cash generating units.

Taking into account the impairment charge, underlying profit after tax was still down 24.6%
