The resumption comes after operations were suspended in the wake of a deadly terrorist attack at the nearby In Amenas plant in 2013, that left dozens of workers and terrorists dead.
BP had said earlier this month that the Southern Fields project at In Salah was close to start-up.
The project is the latest stage in the development of seven fields, with four at the Southern Fields area: Gour Mahmoud, In Salah, Garet el Befinat and Hassi Moumene.
