Canadian company Niko Resources revealed it had received notification from the government the gas price for fields under production since 31 December 2015 would be set at $3.06 per million British thermal units, from 1 April until 30 September.
It said this represented a roughly 20% cut from the price of natural gas produced between 1 October and 31 March.
The government has also set the price for gas to be produced from discoveries in high pressure-high temperature, deep-water and ultra-deepwater areas that had not commenced production as 1 January this year.
