AWE revealed Monday the AAL-4X appraisal well had intersected the primary G Sand reservoir on prognosis at 1176 metres after encountering the secondary target K Sand at 1131 metres.
Both reservoirs were fully cored for further analysis, with oil shows being observed in both sands and AWE adding a drill stem test was planned for each reservoir following wireline logging.
AWE estimates the G sand reservoir to hold 289 million barrels of oil in place with 36 million barrels gross recoverable oil.
