Under the 28-month contract, Zhongman Petroleum & Natural Gas will drill 66 production oil wells at West Qurna 2, operated by Russia's Lukoil, Reuters reported, citing a statement from the Iraqi government.
Current production capacity at West Qurna 2 is over 400,000 barrels per day but actual output is less than 350,000 bpd, according to Reuters.
Lukoil holds a 75% stake in West Qurna 2, which is ranked as one of the largest oilfields in the world.
