Jemena was selected by the Northern Territory government following a competitive bid round that also drew bids for the build-own-operate contract from APA Group, DUET Group and Merlin Energy.
The pipeline will cost A$800 million to build and will branch away from the existing Darwin-to-Alice Springs pipeline at Tennant Creek and finish up at Mount Isa in Queensland where there is another existing pipeline that can transport gas to Gladstone - site of three LNG projects - or Brisbane.
