Joint venture partner Hardy Oil & Gas announced the relinquishment of the D3 block, in which it holds a 10% interest, after access restrictions were imposed by the government.
Reliance, as the operator of the licence, proposed the decision after the to the D3 management committee.
The Indian Ministry of Defence imposed restrictions on the block which ruled out any exploration or development activities in the area.
