An investigation "has shown a pattern of external corrosion" similar to corrosion on the part of Spectra Energy's Line 27 that exploded near the town of Delmont, according to the US Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHSMA).
The agency have still not determined a cause for the explosion, but have been eyeing corrosion since May, when the investigation found evidence of it at the point of failure on the pipe.
