The Swedish explorer was given the green light on Tuesday by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) to drill the 7219/12-1 well in production licence 533.
The well will be drilled from the semi-submersible Leiv Eiriksson, as Lundin chases prospective resources estimated at 258 million barrels of oil equivalent.
“The area in this licence consists of blocks 7219/12 and 7220/10. The well will be drilled about 24 kilometres south of the discovery well 7220/10-1,” NPD said.
