The probe is being drilled by the semi-submersible Bredford Dolphin on the south-western part of the discovery in production licence 501. It is located about four kilometres south-west of the dry appraisal well 16/5-2S and about three kilometres south-east of the successful 16/5-3 appraisal well.
The well has a planned total depth of about 2075 metres below mean sea level. Drilling is expected to take about 45 days.
