The move, being carried out as part of a strategic review, will see the diversified group divide its activities into two separate divisions for energy - also including Maersk Drilling, Maersk Supply Service and Maersk Tankers - and transport & logistics.

Claus Hemmingsen, presently the boss of Maersk Drilling, has been appointed chief executive of the energy division as well as deputy chief executive of the overall group, with the management changes effective 1 October.
