The well was drilled by the jack-up Ensco 72 in the western Danish North Sea in water depths of 35 metres, the Danish Energy Agency said.

Maersk Oil and its parent AP Moeller Maersk are the concession holders of the Sole licence on a 31.2% interest with partners Shell (36.8%), Chevron (12%) and the Danish North Sea fund (20%).

Dany-1X was drilled as a vertical well with Upper Cretaceous chalk as the objective, and terminated in Lower Cretaceous claystone at a depth of 2501 metres below mean sea level.

The
