Up to nine international oil companies are in talks with state-owned Qatar Petroleum (QP) with the aim of bidding for an interest in Qatar’s flagship Al Shaheen field.
QP decided in May to open up the field to competition, much to the chagrin of current operator Maersk Oil of Denmark.
“We are in technical discussions with QP. I understand between seven to nine companies are doing the same,” a senior executive of a European player told Upstream.
Another
