ExxonMobil in partnership with Russia's Rosneft to bid for the two offshore blocks available in the virgin Angoche basin and will have competition from Total, partnered by Angolan state oil company Sonangol, which is chasing one of these blocks, as is Eni working alongside Sasol Petroleum and Statoil.
The ExxonMobil/Rosneft pairing also applied for two deep-water blocks in the Zambesi basin.
