Marco Polo subsidiary MP Drilling issued SembMarine's PPL Shipyard with a termination notice for the US$214.3 million contract last month after claiming cracks were found on all three legs of the rig during two rounds of tests.
Marco Polo revealed this week that the first tests in August uncovered 70 cracks on the legs of the Pacific Class 400 design rig, including cracks on the parent material.
