The Hague-based explorer is using a Compagnie Tunisienne de Forage’s 2000-horsepower land rig to drill the well pair at the Zaafrane permit.
Mazarine Energy executive chairman Edward van Kersbergen highlighted that the explorer had spudded the first well less than a year after acquiring 3D seismic data on the acreage.
The first well, Chouchet El Atrous-1 (Cat-1), lies in the north-western part of the permit close to Serinus Energy’s producing Sabria field.
