Oil sands producer MEG Energy plans to spend about C$590 million (US$449.1 million) this year, more than half of which will go towards a brownfield growth initiative aimed at increasing production by around 25% from its Christina Lake SAGD facility in Alberta.
About 55% of MEG's total spend in 2017 will be directed towards its proprietary "eMSAGP" initiative, which pairs infill drilling with gas injection to increase output.
