The pledge symbolically binds the nations to work together to tackle climate change and to help reach the Paris agreement's goal of capping global temperature increases since pre-industrial times at 2 degrees Celsius.
"North America has the capacity, resources and the moral imperative to show strong leadership building on the Paris Agreement and promoting its early entry into force," the leaders of the three nations said in a joint statement on Wednesday.
