Round 2.1 will cover 10 purely exploratory blocks and five with opportunities for both extraction of known resources and new exploration, according to terms approved on Tuesday morning by Mexico's National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH).
The offering, with bid opening tentatively set for late March 2017, will offer nine tracts in the heart of Mexico's offshore oil patch, the south-east marine region off Tabasco and Campeche.
