Energy Minister Pedro Joaquin Coldwell said the additional older areas would be tacked on "given the appetite" seen on Tuesday, when 40 bidders battled fiercely to snap up all 25 fields let in the third phase of the country's inaugural Round 1.
The official's mention of the preparations for the fifth phase were somewhat of a surprise, as many observers had come to assume the unconventional areas were off the table for the forseeable future due to low oil prices.
