PetroVietnam chairman Nguyen Xuan Son and Murphy chief executive Roger Jenkins signed the agreement, which could see Murphy participate in the development of the large Block B gas resource off the south-west coast.
Block B gas will underpin a US$10 billion-plus domestic gas-to-power project.
PetroVietnam recently bought Chevron’s operating interest in Blocks B and 48/95, Block 52/97 and also the pipeline project that will be built from the offshore fields to the power complex in O Mon.
