The Texas-based company said that it has been provisionally awarded the work under two lots from a recent restricted tender by Sonatrach, subject to final approval and the execution of contract documents.
Newpark Drilling Fluids president Bruce Smith said the contract was the company’s largest ever award, crediting the win to its long track record with the Algerian player.
Smith said the maximum value of the win on a full-year basis would effectively treble its earnings from Sonatrach compared to 2014, although work is not expected to start ramping up until the second half of 2015.
