Officials in Javadi's office were not available to comment on the reports, which have persisted for more than a week. His departure on a "leave of absence" reportedly came on 21 May.
"The leave of absence is indefinite," a source told Upstream.
The arrangement leaves open the possibility that Javadi may return to his job in case Zanganeh has problems finding a replacement.
