London-listed Ophir Energy has come up dry with the first well in its two-well exploration campaign on Block G4/50 in the Gulf of Thailand.
The G4/50-10 exploration well was drilled to a total depth of 1627 metres on the Soy Siam prospect using the jack-up Emerald Driller.
While the well intersected the primary Miocene reservoir targets on prognosis in terms of both reservoir quality and depth, Ophir said all reservoirs were dry and no hydrocarbon shows were encountered.
