Nopsema said on Monday that it was not satisfied with the environmental plan submitted by BP in early October, as it “does not yet meet criteria for acceptance under environment regulations”.
Therefore, BP’s proposal to explore for oil in the area has been rejected unless the UK player chooses to resubmit a modified plan.
“After a thorough and rigorous assessment, Nopsema has determined that the environment plan does not yet meet the criteria for acceptance under the environment regulations, and has advised BP of this decision,” the agency said.
