The government has decided to allocate Nkr360 million ($45 million) for planning of such a facility in Norway in its Budget proposal for 2017 unveiled on Thursday, according to the Petroleum & Energy Ministry.
Another Nkr200 million has also been earmarked by the government for carbon capture research under the so-called Climit initiative.
Carbon capture agency Gassnova will soon issue a concept study tender - following a feasibility study presented earlier this year - for up to three different projects.
